According to the Governor’s order, funeral homes are allowed to “increase capacity to permit 40% occupancy for one service at a time within the facility.”
Be comfortable in calling us: we will review a range of options specific to your needs. Now that we can have public visitation and services, families need to consider new procedures for these at least for the short term. The recommended protocol is to plan an hour privately at the beginning of the visitation only for those 60 years of age and older as well as for those with underlying health conditions. This will be followed by a public visitation as indicated in the newspaper and on the funeral home website.
Funeral services taking place on the following day that are expected to draw a large attendance may have to continue to be private or by invitation only. This is due to the physical distancing requirements and limited seating capacity at the funeral home and in some churches. This is a process that we need to let unfold in time. You have our assurance that we will do our best to manage each unique situation as it presents itself.
Attending visiting hours and funeral services is of course greatly appreciated by the grieving family. Undoubtedly this will be a slowly revised process until we all become familiar and comfortable with ways that are different from what we took for granted just a short time ago.
If you prefer not to attend a public service, ask someone to sign the guest book for you and to offer your condolences to the family; you can also call us, and we will pass on a message. For those who do attend, please be understanding as we work through the logistics. In some cases where there are a large number of attendees you may be requested to wait outside the funeral home within the social distancing parameters. Our staff will then invite you to enter as the space becomes available.
Please continue to use an appropriate face covering as we will have available hand sanitizers at the funeral home. These have served all of us well and will continue to do so.
Thank you for your kindness, patience, and generosity of spirit.
